Bio
Sharine Taylor is an award-winning, Toronto-based writer, critic and filmmaker.
Her combined passions for writing, archiving, media creating and curating has informed her approach in editorializing and documenting the expansive and generative cultural production that takes place in the Caribbean, and how it materializes, transforms and takes up itself in different geographies.
Some of her editorial career highlights include being a recipient of the 2019 Magazines Canada fellowship, winning the 2019 ByBlacks Peoples Choice award for Best Online Journalist, being placed on Invisible Publishing’s 2019 Best Canadian Music Writing list and Complex UK’s 2019 Highlights From The World Of Music Journalism list, as well as penning profiles on major Caribbean artists such as Buju Banton, Spice, Shenseea, Protoje, Nailah Blackman and Jimmy October.
